The Little Ones Who Call Me Mom
The Little Ones Who Call Me Mom
The clock is ticking and I can hear it.
The silence is peaceful and calm.
This is a rare occasion and I revere it.
But I truly cherish the little ones who call me mom.
I love the sweetness and innocence.
I love the laughter and giggles.
I love the learning of words and cents.
I love the dances and body wiggles.
I love the dimples that come with smiles.
I love the little body dressed up for ballet.
I love the sound effect and dinosaur piles.
I love the kicks and pushes from my belly each day.
I love the sponge minds that soak up what I teach.
I love the desire for worksheets and coloring.
I love to see where their imagination can reach.
I love to read and discover and all the exploring.
I thought when they were babies,
I’d miss them that way.
But now that they are children,
I pray “this way, forever stay”
But I embrace the upcoming,
I know we will be just fine.
They may not be as forthcoming,
Yet they will still and forever be mine.
